Acta Cirúrgica Brasileira - Eighteen years

Acta Cirúrgica Brasileira, the official journal of the Brazilian Soceity for Development of Research in Surgery, founded by Professor Saul Goldenberg, celebrates this year its 18th anniversary.
18 is a special number in the Jewish tradition. Why? Because in Hebrew each letter of the alphabet has a numerical value and 18 is equivalent to the sum of the value of the letters that make up the word chai ("life" in Hebrew).
We also know that 18 is a number associated with adulthood.
On the occasion of this doubly meaningful commemoration, I warmly congratulate my good friend Saul Goldenberg for having given life to such a highly regarded publication and organization, as well as having led both to their full maturity.
Besides being a renowned surgeon and researcher, Dr. Saul Goldenberg is also a kind and generous human being. I take this opportunity to express my affection for him as a person and my admiration for his work.
