Analysis of the evaluation process of university libraries

Abstract:

This work analyzed the evaluation process of the libraries of the Federal University of Paraíba, based on the evaluation indicators of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira, the International Organization for Standardization 11620 of 2014 and the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions. Qualitative in nature, the research included a bibliographic and documentary survey. In the treatment of collected data, the technique used is content analysis. The sources were the official documents of institutional and federal evaluations, the Institutional Development Plan 2019-2023 and the 2020 self-assessment of the aforementioned University. We conclude that, when analyzing the evaluation processes used by the libraries of the Federal University of Paraíba in the light of the focused evaluation guidelines, there is a gap between such indicators and the instruments of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira, as well as the institutional instruments. We note the need for a specific assessment in order to better diagnose and support management, in the improvement process and in the constant technological updates imposed by a digital society.
