Open-access Is there interdisciplinarity in the textbooks of the “Natural Sciences and Their Technologies” series?: A study based on epistemological elements

This article investigates how interdisciplinarity is developed in the books of the “Conexões - Ciências da Natureza e suas Tecnologias” series, focusing on the organization within each chapter. The analysis concentrated on topics and interconnections, examining the presence of epistemological elements such as contextualization, problematization, and dialogicity. The results indicate that interconnections present greater interdisciplinary potential compared to topics, although they are less explored in teaching practice. It was also observed that epistemological elements appear in a fragmented and poorly articulated manner, with problematization rarely used as a starting point. The study highlights the need for greater integration among these elements to strengthen the interdisciplinary approach and proposes an analytical tool that can assist educators and researchers in the critical analysis of textbooks.

Key words:
