Preface

Preface

It is a great pleasure to announce that the IMPACT FACTOR of the Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures, LAJSS, is now 1.24, as evaluated by Thomson Reuters, Journal Citation Reports.

The statistics are based on citations in the period 2010-2011.

Without self-citations, the impact factor is 0.98, meaning that papers published by LAJSS are mostly cited by other journals.

Among all the Brazilian journals, LAJSS comes on 5th. position. This is a very important achievement that strengths further the engineering community.

These statistics do show a tremendous growth of the journal in terms of quality and quantity. We are currently publishing over 1000 pages of pure scientific content per year. Also, our average days to review is 58 and to publish 69, with a rejection rate of 60%, as for 2013.

Interesting, LAJSS is unique in having such a high impact factor and, at the same time, being 100% free for authors and readers. A small annual budget to cover layout edition and electronic publication is granted by the Brazilian government, via the research funding agencies CAPES and CNPq.

The success of LAJSS is due to authors, readers and reviewers, and I would like to thank them for the continuous and tireless effort to promote a journal that only aims to serve the engineering community throughout the whole world with top scientific content. Special thanks go also to the Editorial Board and to the Associate Editors, Profs. Heraldo da Costa Mattos and RogérioMarczak for close following the reviewing process.

I hope LAJSS can serve you all even better in the years to come.
