Music and Psychology in school: mobilizing affections in the recovery class

Abstract

Based on Historical-Cultural Psychology, this article is part of a master's thesis that aimed to analyze the influence of music in promoting changes in the relationship established by students of recovery class with school activities. Students from two classes of intensive recovery classes, Elementary School II, from a state public school in a city in the interior of São Paulo, were studied. There were weekly meetings lasting 1h30, in a total of approximately 20 meetings with each class. The procedures of information construction were: dialogues with the management team, teachers, and students; comments; activities with music, videos, and film; students' written records on each meeting; musical compositions; semi-structured interview with the teachers. The results revealed that music is a powerful materiality in the transformation of emotions and feelings, favoring the configuration of meanings and meanings, being a tool for the work of the school psychologist.
