Resumo O tráfico internacional de cocaína por meio de contêineres trouxe à tona um dilema que emerge da contradição entre a economia, que depende da velocidade e do volume dos fluxos comerciais, e a segurança, que deve controlar esses fluxos a fim de detectar e interceptar as remessas da droga. Entretanto, pouco se sabe sobre como a Alfândega lida com esse dilema, uma vez que a governança aduaneira por ela exercida permanece inexplorada nas ciências sociais. Este artigo aborda o dilema entre economia e segurança a partir da perspectiva dos fiscais da Alfândega nos portos brasileiros de Santos e Paranaguá. Quais problemas constituem o dilema? Quais soluções são adotadas? Como a governança aduaneira se caracteriza de acordo com tais soluções? O artigo busca responder a essas perguntas por meio da análise qualitativa do conteúdo de entrevistas e conversas com fiscais e ex-fiscais. Os resultados indicam que o dilema se constitui por problemas de princípios contraditórios, para os quais soluções conciliatórias e legitimadoras são adotadas, e de capacidades limitadas, cujas soluções são tecnológicas e regulatórias - embora soluções e problemas prossigam em círculos viciosos. Com base nesses resultados, o artigo caracteriza o arranjo institucional, as mentalidades e as técnicas da governança aduaneira.

Abstract International cocaine trafficking through containers has brought to light a dilemma that emerges from the contradiction between the economy, which depends on the speed and the volume of trade flows, and security, which must control these flows to detect and intercept drug shipments. However, little is known about how Customs deals with this dilemma, since the governance it exercises remains unexplored in the social sciences. This article addresses the dilemma between economy and security from the perspective of Customs officers in the Brazilian ports of Santos and Paranaguá. What problems constitute the dilemma? What solutions are adopted? How is Customs governance characterized according to such solutions? The article seeks to answer these questions through the qualitative analysis of the content of interviews and conversations with current and former Customs officers. The results indicate that the dilemma consists of problems of contradictory principles, for which conciliatory and legitimizing solutions are adopted, and of limited capacities, whose solutions are technological and regulatory - although solutions and problems continue in vicious circles. Based on these results, the article characterizes the institutional arrangement, the mentalities, and the techniques of Customs governance.

Resumo O artigo apresenta e analisa o trabalho teórico de Denise Ferreira da Silva, sustentando que ele oferece uma intervenção incomum aos textos de autoras e autores brasileiros dedicados ao tema da teoria social. Para além de revisar criticamente os fundamentos históricos dos textos canônicos, a autora apresenta uma crítica epistemológica e política fundamental ao sujeito moderno da teoria social hegemônica, compondo uma alternativa ontológica concreta para a montagem ou re/de/composição de nosso objeto de estudo e conhecimento. Ao longo do texto, realiza-se uma investigação teórica do trabalho de Ferreira da Silva, que parte da apresentação da compreensão do sujeito moderno (Eu Transparente) como sujeito governante da teoria e da pesquisa hegemônica nas Ciências Sociais. De forma específica, o texto destaca que o sujeito teórico opera nas Ciências Sociais por meio da exclusão e subjugação epistemológica e política da maioria da população global. A partir das considerações da autora sobre as consequências geo-onto-epistemológicas desse sujeito do conhecimento, o artigo descreve seu esforço em estabelecer um terreno inovador para o surgimento de uma ontologia analítica que sugere a possibilidade de composição de um sujeito indeterminado. A conclusão indica que se trata de uma proposição forte que inspira as Ciências Sociais atuais a forjar novas ferramentas analíticas para lidar com seus limites históricos inerentes.

Abstract The article presents and analyzes Denise Ferreira da Silva's theoretical work, arguing that it offers an unprecedented intervention in the Brazilian contributions to global social theory. In addition to critically reviewing the historical foundations of canonical texts, the author presents a fundamental epistemological and political critique of the modern subject of hegemonic social theory, composing a concrete ontological alternative for the assembly or re/de/composition of our object of study and knowledge. Throughout the text, a theoretical investigation of Ferreira da Silva's work is carried out, beginning with the presentation of her understanding of the modern subject (Eu Transparente) as the governing subject of hegemonic theory and research in the social sciences. Specifically, this article highlights that the reigning theoretical subject operates in the social sciences through the epistemological and political exclusion and subjugation of the majority of the global population. Based on the author's reflections on the geo-onto-epistemological consequences of this subject of knowledge, the article describes her effort to establish innovative ground for the emergence of an analytical ontology that enables the composition of an indeterminate subject. The conclusion indicates that this proposition inspires the current Social Sciences to forge new analytical tools to address their inherent historical limitations.

Resumo A constelação familiar sistêmica tem ganhado crescente visibilidade no Brasil, deslocando-se gradualmente dos círculos esotéricos para o campo jurídico. A partir de uma abordagem interpretativa, analiso os discursos que sustentam sua aplicação em casos de violência doméstica, identificando duas vertentes principais. A primeira compreende o conflito como uma dinâmica de corresponsabilidade entre todos os envolvidos; enquanto a segunda propõe que tal corresponsabilização seja mediada por uma perspectiva de gênero. Ao examinar como essas abordagens se articulam ou entram em tensão com os sentidos atribuídos à informalização da justiça, sustento que o uso da constelação no campo jurídico opera como um dispositivo pedagógico que pretende orientar a produção de subjetividades e (re)produzir narrativas sobre família, papéis de gênero e ordem social. Defendo, portanto, que sua adoção pode implicar restrições a direitos já consolidados, o que exige uma análise crítica aprofundada.

Abstract Systemic family constellation has gained increasing visibility in Brazil, gradually shifting from esoteric circles to the legal field. Drawing on an interpretative approach, I examine the discourses that underpin its application in cases of domestic violence, identifying two main strands. The first one conceives conflict as a dynamic of shared responsibility among all parties involved; the second argues that such co-responsibilization should be mediated from a gender perspective. By analyzing how these approaches align with or come into tension with the meanings attributed to the informalization of justice, I argue that the use of constellation practices within the legal sphere aims to operate as a pedagogical device that shapes subjectivities and (re)produces narratives about family, gender roles, and social order. I therefore contend that its adoption may entail restrictions on already consolidated rights, demanding thorough critical analysis.

Resumo: O artigo analisa comparativamente dois casos de vulgarização da história na plataforma YouTube em contextos nacionais distintos: o canal Nostalgia, de Felipe Castanhari, no Brasil, e o canal Nota Bene, de Benjamin Brillaud, na França. Ambos produzem conteúdos sobre história sem formação específica, situando-se nas fronteiras entre os campos intelectual e midiático. O estudo focaliza formas de construção e de disputa pela visibilidade a partir dessa nova posição, dos youtubers, identificando trajetórias, redes de sociabilidade e relações com instituições culturais legítimas, como universidades, museus e bibliotecas. No Brasil, o caso de Castanhari evidencia lógicas de construção de uma posição marcada pela representação de um empreendedor nesse mercado. Na França, o caso Brillaud evidencia a um só tempo estratégias comerciais e simbólicas. Nesse sentido, estabelece uma aproximação com o polo comercial de certas instituições, como um curso de Master em “História Pública”. Sustenta-se que as hierarquias entre capital simbólico (acadêmico) e capital midiático (comercial) moldam as possibilidades de reconhecimento e de legitimação desses agentes, seus investimentos e estratégias, revelando tensões entre difusão científica e vulgarização nas formas de mediação do saber histórico.

Abstract: The article comparatively analyzes two cases involving the vulgarization of history on YouTube platform in different national contexts: the Nostalgia channel, by Felipe Castanhari, in Brazil, and Nota Bene, by Benjamin Brillaud, in France. Both produce content about history without specific academic background, being positioned at the intersection between the intellectual and media fields. So, this study focuses on the ways in which visibility can be constructed and disputed from this new position – the youtubers – by identifying trajectories, networks of sociability, and relations with legitimate cultural institutions such as universities, museums, and libraries. In Brazil, Castanhari's case reveals logics of position-building marked by the representation of the youtuber as an entrepreneur within this market. In France, Brillaud's case reveals both commercial and symbolic strategies, establishing connections with the commercial pole of certain institutions, such as a master's program in “Public History”. I argue that the hierarchies between symbolic (academic) and media (commercial) capital might shape different possibilities of recognition and legitimation of these agents, as well as their investments and strategies, revealing tensions between science communication and popularization in the contemporary mediation of historical knowledge.

Resumen: El objetivo es analizar el sentido de las pruebas psicométricas en los procesos de selección de personal y su relación tanto con la instrumentalización de los seres humanos como con la identificación de sus potencialidades. Se realizó a partir de una investigación diseñada desde el paradigma metodológico cualitativo con un enfoque hermenéutico, que permitió interpretar la realidad del fenómeno investigado. Se adelantó mediante dos fases: la primera de ellas, la obtención de la información, se desarrolló a partir entrevistas no dirigidas a psicólogos dedicados a la aplicación e interpretación de pruebas psicométricas en la ciudad de Medellín, Colombia; la segunda fase, de análisis, se llevó a cabo mediante una hibridación metodológica cualitativa entre el Análisis del Discurso Orientado Textualmente, ADOT propuesto por Norman Fairclough y el método indiciario de Carlo Ginzburg. Futuras investigaciones deberán insistir sobre el examen de la identificación de las potencialidades humanas por parte de los expertos en pruebas psicométricas.

Abstract: The objective is to analyze the meaning of psychometric tests in personnel selection processes and their relationship both with the instrumentalization of human beings and with the identification of their potential. It was carried out based on research designed from the qualitative methodological paradigm with a hermeneutic approach, which allowed interpreting the reality of the investigated phenomenon. It was carried out through two phases: the first of them, obtaining the information, was developed from non-directed interviews with psychologists dedicated to the application and interpretation of psychometric tests in the city of Medellín, Colombia; The second phase, analysis, was carried out through a qualitative methodological hybridization between Textually Oriented Discourse Analysis, ADOT proposed by Norman Fairclough and the indexical method of Carlo Ginzburg. Future research should insist on the examination of the identification of human potentialities by experts in psychometric tests.

Resumo: Este artigo investiga como ideias econômicas moldaram o processo de estabilização no Brasil entre as décadas de 1980 e 1990, culminando no Plano Real e na centralização da autoridade monetária no Banco Central. Argumentamos que as ideias formuladas por economistas da PUC-Rio foram decisivas não apenas como justificativas ex post, mas como recursos centrais de ação política em um contexto de elevada incerteza. Reconstruímos, com base em fontes primárias (artigos acadêmicos, entrevistas e declarações públicas), a trajetória dos diagnósticos sobre a inflação e dos planos de estabilização, desde os primeiros modelos de conflito distributivo e indexação até a formulação de reformas institucionais nos anos 1990. Mostramos que tais ideias operaram como plantas institucionais, ao fornecerem mapas causais sobre a inflação e suas possíveis terapias; como armas discursivas, ao legitimarem diagnósticos e disputas de agenda no espaço público por economistas e atores políticos; e como travas cognitivas, ao delimitarem as alternativas concebíveis de política econômica após a estabilização. O caso brasileiro evidencia, de forma exemplar, como ideias importam para estruturar interpretações da crise, orientar escolhas políticas e contribuir para a consolidação de arranjos institucionais duradouros.

Abstract: This article investigates how economic ideas shaped the stabilization process in Brazil between the 1980s and 1990s, culminating in the “Real Plan” (Plano Real) and the centralization of monetary authority in the Central Bank. We argue that the ideas formulated by PUC-Rio economists were decisive not merely as ex post justifications, but as central resources for political action in a context of heightened uncertainty. Drawing on primary sources (academic articles, interviews, and public statements), we reconstruct the trajectory of inflation diagnoses and stabilization plans, from the early models of distributive conflict and indexation to the formulation of institutional reforms in the 1990s. We show that these ideas operated as institutional blueprints, by providing causal maps about inflation and its possible remedies; as discursive weapons, by legitimizing diagnoses and agenda disputes in the public sphere by economists and political actors; and as cognitive locks, by delimiting the conceivable alternatives for economic policy after stabilization. The Brazilian case exemplifies how ideas matter in structuring interpretations of crisis, guiding political choices, and contributing to the consolidation of enduring institutional arrangements.

Resumo Enquanto a crítica ao sistema de automobilidade tem denunciado a normalização de ferimentos e mortes, as práticas ilícitas que atravessam o sistema seguem pouco exploradas. Por sua vez, o debate sobre o “mundo do crime carioca” privilegia o binômio “tráfico de drogas” e “controle territorial”, raramente examinando os crimes contra o patrimônio e seus efeitos sobre mercados e fluxos urbanos. Parte de um projeto coletivo, multissituado e multimétodos sobre a economia transnacional de peças e veículos usados, o artigo propõe que o crime não é uma externalidade do sistema, mas um componente estruturante de um regime militarizado de mobilidades. Das várias interações vivenciadas ao longo do trabalho de campo com agentes e ex-agentes de diferentes faixas etárias e filiações faccionais, elejo a trajetória de Dudu Piloto, um “caso particular do possível”, como fio condutor. Para dar tração empírica e conceitual ao argumento, proponho o híbrido “piloto-carro” como operador analítico que permite acesso ao vocabulário da virada das mobilidades para interpretação dos conflitos urbanos e das iniquidades socioespaciais.

Abstract While critiques of the automobility system have exposed how injury and death are rendered ordinary, the illicit practices entangled in that same system remain undertheorized. At the same time, scholarship on Rio de Janeiro's criminality has been shaped by the dominant pairing of “drug trade” and “territorial control”, leaving aside property crimes and their implications for urban markets and economic flows. Based on a collective, multisited, and multimethod research project into the transnational economy of used vehicles and auto parts, this article approaches crime not as an externality of automobility, but as a constitutive element of a militarized mobilities regime. Drawing on multiple interactions with current and former criminal actors of different generations and factional affiliations during fieldwork, I take the trajectory of Dudu Pilot as the thread through which the argument unfolds. To lend both empirical and conceptual traction to this argument, I introduce the hybrid “pilot-car” as an analytical device that draws on the vocabulary of mobility studies to interpret urban conflict and socio-spatial inequalities.

Resumo Este trabalho articula os conceitos de sistema-mundo, colonialidade e heterocolonialidade para analisar como a imposição da heterossexualidade compulsória constitui uma tecnologia de poder colonial fundamental no sistema-mundo moderno/colonial. A heterocolonialidade é apresentada como regime político-epistêmico-ontológico que transcende a mera normatividade social, operando como mecanismo de apagamento de cosmologias indígenas, regulação corporal, controle territorial e dominação espiritual. Metodologicamente, o estudo dialoga com perspectivas decoloniais, críticas e feministas, propondo uma abordagem interseccional e transdisciplinar que incorpora contribuições do feminismo negro latino-americano e norte-americano. Os resultados evidenciam como a heterocolonialidade se manifesta através de práticas de conversão moral, instrumentalização política da sexualidade e na vinculação entre sexualidade, território e morte, articulando-se com as diferentes fases históricas do capitalismo. Conclui-se que esta articulação teórica oferece ferramentas para compreender os desafios contemporâneos e construir alternativas ao sistema-mundo moderno/colonial/heteronormativo através de um pensamento crítico situado que reconhece tanto especificidades locais, quanto conexões globais.

Abstract This study articulates the concepts of world-system, coloniality, and heterocoloniality to analyze how compulsory heterosexuality functions as a colonial power technology in the modern/colonial world-system. Heterocoloniality is presented as a political-epistemic-ontological regime that transcends mere social normativity, operating as a mechanism for erasing indigenous cosmologies, regulating bodies, controlling territories, and spiritual domination. Methodologically, the research engages with decolonial, queer, and feminist perspectives, proposing an intersectional and transdisciplinary approach that incorporates contributions from Latin American and North American Black feminism. The findings demonstrate how heterocoloniality manifests through practices of moral conversion, political instrumentalization of sexuality, and the systematic linkage between sexuality, territory, and death, articulating with the different historical phases of capitalism. The study concludes that this theoretical articulation provides tools for understanding contemporary challenges and building alternatives to the modern/colonial/heteronormative world-system through situated critical thinking that recognizes both local specificities and global connections.

Resumo: Em 1993, pouco depois de eleito vereador de Coqueiro Seco (AL), Renildo José dos Santos teve seu mandato cassado após expor sua sexualidade “bissexual” durante uma entrevista a uma rádio. Foi sequestrado, torturado e assassinado na sequência, por um grupo de extermínio, a mando de opositores políticos. Seu assassinato foi denunciado como um dos crimes mais violentos cometidos contra um “gay” no Brasil pelo Grupo Gay da Bahia (GGB) e por grupos de atuação local ao longo dos anos 1990. O “caso” obteve repercussão internacional por meio da atuação de organizações internacionais de direitos humanos e do movimento bissexual. Este trabalho aborda os processos de enquadramento da memória em torno deste “caso”. Os discursos são analisados cotejando as perspectivas de familiares de Renildo, de agentes e setores do Estado, dos movimentos sociais e da imprensa. Por meio de uma etnografia que envolve a realização de entrevistas, a análise de matérias jornalísticas e acervos de ativistas e organizações LGBT e de direitos humanos nacionais e internacionais, focalizo como esses atores participam da construção da memória e do “caso”, destacando as estratégias utilizadas para dar visibilidade e enquadrar, nesse contexto, o assassinato como um crime motivado por preconceito contra orientação sexual.

Abstract: In 1993, shortly after being elected city councilor of Coqueiro Seco, Alagoas, Renildo José dos Santos had his mandate revoked after publicly disclosing his “bisexual” sexuality during a radio interview. He was subsequently kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by an extermination group acting on the orders of political opponents. His assassination was denounced throughout the 1990s by the Grupo Gay da Bahia (GGB) and by local activist groups as one of the most violent crimes committed against a “gay” person in Brazil. The “case” gained international attention through the involvement of international human rights organizations and the bisexual movement. This study examines the processes through which memory has been framed around this “case.” The discourses are analyzed by comparing the perspectives of Renildo's family members, state agents and sectors, social movements, and the press. Through an ethnography involving interviews, the analysis of news coverage, and activist and organizational archives from national and international LGBT and human rights groups, I focus on how these actors participate in constructing memory and the “case,” highlighting the strategies used to give visibility to and frame the murder, in this context, as a crime motivated by prejudice against sexual orientation.

Resumo: Este artigo parte do entendimento de que o Brasil, como sociedade constituída em sólidas bases coloniais, ainda enfrenta, no século XXI, questões herdadas desse passado. Uma dessas heranças, foco deste texto, é o padrão da brancura, ou, em termos mais recentes, da branquitude, entendida como a norma por meio da qual se estruturam as relações sociais e raciais, além de definirem os padrões estéticos da sociedade brasileira. A partir dos trabalhos de Alberto Guerreiro Ramos (1915-1982), intelectual negro fundamental para o pensamento sociológico, que já no final da década de 1950 problematizou a questão da brancura, antecipando os atuais debates sobre a noção de branquitude, serão analisadas produções de artistas contemporâneos(as) que abordaram o tema em suas obras. Parte-se aqui, portanto, da compreensão de que o mundo da arte constitui um espaço social privilegiado para a leitura da sociedade, de suas ideologias, projetos políticos, regras e processos de autorização e subalternização. Nesse sentido, a análise permite compreender os questionamentos formulados por sujeitos racializados fora do espectro da brancura a respeito dos limites e das possibilidades de sua legitimação no campo da arte nacional.

Abstract This article is based on the understanding that Brazil, as a society built on solid colonial foundations, still faces, in the 21st century, issues inherited from this past. One such legacy, which is the focus of this text, is the standard of whiteness — or, in recent terms, hegemonic whiteness — understood as the norm through which social and racial relations are structured and the aesthetic standards of Brazilian society are defined. Drawing on the works of Alberto Guerreiro Ramos (1915–1982), a Black intellectual fundamental to sociological thought, who, as early as the late 1950s, problematized the issue of whiteness and anticipated current debates on the notion of hegemonic whiteness, the article analyzes contemporary artistic productions that have addressed this theme in their works. It is based on the premise that the art world constitutes a privileged social space for interpreting society, its ideologies, political projects, rules, and processes of authorization and subalternization. In this sense, the analysis sheds light on the questions raised by racialized subjects outside the spectrum of whiteness regarding the limits and possibilities of their legitimation in the national art field.

Resumo Este texto analisa o livro “Motivos de Proteo”, de José Enrique Rodó, cujo longo processo de estruturação foi minuciosamente concebido, reescrito e compartilhado em cartas, consolidando uma rede literária com a finalidade de interconectar intelectuais de diversas partes do mundo em torno da reflexão latino-americana. Argumentamos, por meio da análise dos originais da obra, consultados no Arquivo do autor, que Rodó compila uma leitura sobre a originalidade do continente a partir de uma vasta coleção de livros e de ideias dispersas pelo mundo letrado internacional, conjeturando sobre as diversas formas de constituição da personalidade e a impossibilidade de se aprisionar o sujeito moderno em uma identidade fixa.

Abstract This article aims to analyze the book “Motivos de Proteo”, written by José Enrique Rodó, whose long structuring process was shared in letters, consolidating a literary network with the purpose of interconnecting intellectuals from different parts of the world around Latin American reflection. We argue, through the analysis of the originals of the work, consulted in the author's Archive, and part of his correspondence, how Rodó compiles a reading about the continent's originality from a vast collection of books and ideas dispersed throughout the international literate world, conjecturing about the diverse forms of personality constitution and the impossibility of imprisoning the modern subject in an immovable identity.

Resumo Este artigo aborda a relação com os sonhos, propondo que eles servem de indicadores de ecologias da mente ou do self presentes em diversos mundos sociais, assim como fatores que podem incidir e transformar os limites das experiências de interioridade versus mundo externo, junto aos conceitos mobilizados para domesticar experiências ambíguas. Enquanto a mobilização de conceitos psicológicos parece incontornável para a compreensão de experiências de interioridade em sociedades ocidentais contemporâneas, retoma-se parte da história da antropologia dos sonhos para destacar autores e obras que receberam pouca atenção em nosso contexto nacional, mas que expõem a relevância de sonhos como indicadores de modos de percepção do tempo e dos limites entre mente-mundo em distintos mundos sociais tocados pela modernidade.

Abstract This article addresses the relationship with dreams, proposing that they act as indicators of ecologies of mind or self present in diverse social worlds, as well as factors that might impact and transform the experiences of interiority versus the external world, along with concepts mobilized to domesticate certain experiences' ambiguity. While the mobilization of psychological concepts seems unavoidable for an understanding of experiences of interiority in contemporary Western societies, part of the history of the anthropology of dreams is revisited to highlight authors and works that so far have received little attention in our context, but that expose the relevance of dreams as indicators of ways of perceiving time and the limits between mind and world in different social worlds affected by modernity.
