EDITORIAL

The release of this issue of the Revista Brasileira de Epidemiologia (RBE - Brazilian Journal of Epidemiology) brings some good news to all of us, in the scientific community of Collective Health. The MEDLINE database analysis committee has approved our request to have RBE indexed in this database. Now, we are part of this select group, together with our sister publications, included in this renowned database committed to science and technology.

This indexation will promote greater international visibility of our scientific production, enabling more exchanges and partnerships. In addition, it shows and reinforces the perception of maturity of the scientific production achieved by Epidemiology in Brazil, developed in the midst of the national Collective Health, where RBE is a powerful instrument to promote and disseminate such production. This is the result of a group achievement, which relied on the participation and effort of all those who work and support Collective Health, especially in the area of Epidemiology, in its different conceptions and directions. Among all these participants, colleagues who produce knowledge should be emphasized, in their specific levels of work and spread throughout Brazil and Iberian-American countries, submitting their works for publication with an ever-increasing frequency. Moreover, there is the priceless collaboration of our associate editors and opinion givers, who guarantee the efficiency and quality of the articles published by RBE. Support from the Comissão de Epidemiologia da ABRASCO(Epidemiology Committee of the Brazilian Association of Postgraduate Studies in Collective Health), who has always given priority to RBE, and from the different ABRASCO executive department and management teams plays an important role in this achievement. Thus, the efficient and professional work performed by our secretaries should be emphasized, without whom we certainly could not have succeeded in our editorial project. In the course of our work, the decisive role played by our professor José da Rocha Carvalheiro stands out, who, with his usual dynamic approach and vision of the future, created the necessary conditions to promote the regularity of the journal and its indexation in the SciELO database and also left a rich legacy that has enabled us to achieve this new level.

With this indexation, we take a step towards the promotion of scientific production in the area of Collective Health. RBE has already been indexed in the major bibliographic databases, such as SciELo Saúde Pública, LILACS and SCOPUS.

The collaboration of the community continues to be essential to increase the dissemination of our scientific production, thus contributing to the advancement of Epidemiology in Brazil. In addition, it enables us to promote and disseminate information that helps to strengthen the Sistema Único de Saúde(Unified Health Care System) and, in this way, directly or indirectly seek the main objective, the achievement of high-quality and adequate health care for the population.
