Teaching and library: a possible dialog

An analysis of the historical trajectory of the relation between teaching and library. Focussing on the contribution of the Jesuit libraries and the way it helped its educational and catechetical functions. It is also considered the transformation in the dialog between library and teaching since the royal family arrival and the strengthening of it in the past decades during the Second Republic, and the tutorial category involvement. It is discussed the important contribution of the "escolanovistas" for the creation of libraries in Brazil. Also analysing the role of the libraries during the Populist period. It is concluded that the dialog between school and library depends on the historical, political and social moment, that consists of a relationship of absolute effervescence or total superficiality.
