De material bentônico, coletado pelo Museu Riograndense de Ciências Naturais, ao largo da Barra do Rio Grande (Rio Grande do Sul), são estudadas 7 espécies de poliquetos. Três delas, Neanthes succinea, Marphysa sanguínea e Lumbrineris latreilli são consideradas cosmopolitas, com ampla distribuição. Ophioglycera eximia era conhecida apenas da região Antártica; Eunice rubra, conhecida do Golfo do México, Mar das Antilhas e costa de Pernambuco, tem sua área de distribuição ampliada até o sul do Brasil. Aglaurides fulgida é identificada com reservas, por se dispor apenas de um fragmento mediano; o grande tamanho do fragmento sugere um verme de proporções excepcionais para a espécie. Uma das espécies é nova para a ciência e descrita sob o nome de Pherusa capitata sp. n., baseada em exemplares do Rio Grande e de Ubatuba.

Seven species of polychaetes are studied from benthonic samples collected by the Museu Riograndense de Ciências Naturais off the Barra do Rio Grande (Southern Brazil). Neanthes succinea, Marphysa sanguinea and Lumbrineris latreilli are considered cosmopolitan. Ophioglycera eximia was known only from the antarctic region. The area of distribution of Eunice rubra, known to go from the Gulf of Mexico and West Indies to the coast of Pernambuco, is now enlarged to South Brazil. Aglaurides fulgida has been identified with doubt because only a median fragment was obtained. The size of the fragment indicates an exceptionally large size for the whole worm. A new species is described Pherusa capitata sp. n.

SYNOPSIS

Seven species of polychaetes are studied from benthonic samples collected by the Museu Riograndense de Ciências Naturais off the Barra do Rio Grande (Southern Brazil).
