UTILIZAÇÃO DE MARAVALHAS PARA A FABRICAÇÃO DE AGLOMERADOS

ABSTRACT

The objective of this work was to study the viability to make particleboards from ovendry planner shavings from Pinus elliottii Engelm var. elliottii. Partideboards were made from planner shavings "in natura" that passed through screen with 0,024 inches opening to get out the fines and was dried at 3% of humidity. Another part of planner shavings was hammer milled using screen openings of 1 - 0,72 - 0,49 - 0,23 indres. These planner shavings also passed through 0,024 inches screen opening to get out de fines and dried at 3% humidity. It was used 10% urea-formaldehyde resin (oven dry weight). The press conditions were: Temperature -170°C. press tine - 4 mm, closing press time - 50 seconds, repetition nunirer - 5. Was estudied the static bending and internal bond properties (based on american standard ANSVA208.1-1989). The partideboard made from smaller hammer mill screen opening showed de best results for both static modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity(MOE) and internal bond(LI). The improved properties for MOR e MOE was not enough to considered this results as satisfactory. The particleboards made from 0,72 - 0,48 - 0,23 inches screen opening planner shavings showed satisfactory results to LI.
