EDITOR'S LETTER

Dearest,

There it is: Horticultura Brasileira, volume 30, number 2. In our cover, a very interesting perspective on the use of plant micropropagation on commercial scale, in an article prepared by our editor Ana Cristina PP Carvalho. Do not miss it!

In this issue, we insist on a request and celebrate an achievement.

The request: authors, please observe carefully the guidelines for preparation of articles. This might prevent your paper from being returned to you even before entering the reviewing process. In other words, you will be shortening the time between submission and publication. But, if you really want to speed up the reviewing process, submit your paper to the critical assessment of a couple of colleagues before forwarding it to us. Much of the comments that peer reviewers and editors would have made, will have already be mentioned in this avant-première, when you have the chance of already incorporating eventual changes.

The achievement: out of the 29 papers published in this number, 13 appear in English, which indicates authors' consistent choice to broaden their audience and therefore the potential impact of their results. Many will remember that, less than half a decade ago, the Conference of the Brazilian Society for Horticultural Science still vividly debated the gains and losses for the national horticulture of publishing our results in English.

Until the next issue,

Paulo Melo, Editor-in-chief
