Oppression and resistance in organizational studies: considerations about the discourse of voluntary servitude and the pedagogy of the oppressed

The aim of this article is to discuss the national critical approach to the issue of oppression and resistance in organization studies by presenting new theoreticalcontributions that can strengthen its central thesis: oppression is a collective phenomenon, therefore when seeking a broader emancipatory project, resistance also needs to be undertaken as collective action. Furthermore we attempt to highlight critical pedagogy as a way to analyze and even put into practice new forms of collective resistance. In order to do this we follow a route in which we review the classic text ofEtienne La Boétie, "The Discourse on Voluntary Servitude" and also the "Pedagogy of the Oppressed" by Paulo Freire.
