Abstract
The article aims to discuss the awareness-raising processes on didactic categories of lesson planning that took place within the scope of the discipline “Traineeship in Academic Activities in German” at the University of São Paulo, throughout the second semester of 2019. We begin with some theoretical notions about models and functions of field experiences in pre-service teacher education, in Brazil and Germany, as well as an overview of the main changes that have taken place, in the last twenty years, in the resolutions of the National Council of Education concerning those pre-service field activities in Brazilian undergraduate courses. Hereafter, the analysis of the empirical data will focus on the awareness-raising processes that took place in the investigated group of undergraduates, with regard to their perception of the variety of possible objectives in German teaching, as well as the didactic functions of different phases of a lesson, with special attention to the initial phase. Some reflections on the importance of mentoring in initial teacher education will conclude this study.
