ABSTRACT
The present article focuses on the research that originated the book The Production of School Failure: Stories of Submission and Rebellion, based on the memories of the researchers. This work is considered a landmark because it makes sharp criticisms of the hegemonic practices of Psychology and Education and proposes radical theoretical and methodological ruptures in research on Brazilian public education. The article shares theoretical and methodological reflections that guided the meetings and interviews with Maria Helena Souza Patto and the three auxiliary researchers of the classic book. Once the participants’ previous trajectory is retrieved, a sewing of the researchers’ memories with the reflections registered in the book regarding the procedure developed brings details that were not highlighted in the publication and that were fundamental for the study of daily practices.
