OC - parasitology and our congress — a love story

The recent history of Brazilian Parasitology and that of the Chagas' Disease Meeting are deeply interwoven. Actually, the "meeting" was one of the efforts to revive basic research in Parasitology, which was near total collapse in the early 1970s in Brazil. The "meeting", the visible arm of the Programa Integrado de Doenças Endêmicas do CNPq (PIDE), has done its job. In this presentation we intend to show the "meeting" links with the development of Parasitology and the success of this joint scientific venture quite unusual for Brazil.
