A comparative study between Klein and Winnicott theories: analyzing the concept of fantasy

Resumos

In this article, we intend to raise some considerations about the concept of fantasy, elaborated by Melanie Klein and expanded by Donald Winnicott, aiming at proposing a possible theoretical comparison between these two branches of psychoanalysis. For this purpose, we briefly present the concept of psychic development of these two authors and list some similarities and differences. Finally, we point out the advantages and difficulties of this type of comparative research, highlighting the aspects that characterize the uniqueness of the notion of fantasy in Kleinian and Winnicottian thought, as well as its usefulness in the narration of clinical examples.
