Open-access Where is the religious? Mystique and spirituality on politics, publics, and secular

Abstract: Following pastoral agents in Eastern Amazonia in their daily work, I aim to describe their definitions and experiences about mystique and spirituality. These actors insert important singularities in the set of Christian practices, specially by the way the religious operates in their world. Thus, the mystique lived by the pastoral agents blurs the boundaries between spirit and matter. It is intertwined in the flows of material world, and it participates in publicizing processes such as those about land reform and violence in countryside so that pastoral agents are constantly engaged in the production of the secular.

Keywords: mystique; spirituality; land pastoral; publics; secular
